Episode Summary
If you've ever been curious about the BTS of luxury fashion (particularly the iconic 90s/early 2000s), cinema, or what people make in the associated jobs, this episode is for YOU. This one's also for the dream chasers and aspiring freelancers who need a little push to keep going, especially when they're experiencing a rough patch financially.
Today's guest on the show, @kathyatong, was slicing fish behind the counter of a Canada Safeway when a model scout waltzed in and asked to take her photo. The rest is history.
After joining the brood of 90s supermodels we all know and love, she racked up a high-profile client list that includes Neutrogena, the company from which she gained her breakout spokesmodel role. If you're into video games, you've probably swooned over her as Mona Sax in Max Payne 2. You also might've caught a glimpse of her in blockbusters featuring the likes of Alec Baldwin and even Lindsay Lohan in Blue Jasmine and Just My Luck.
More recently, Kathy published her first novel, Not-Quite-Supermodel, loosely based on her come-up story as a young model just trying to make it (after never wanting to in the first place).
In this episode, Kathy spills on how the industry has changed, her understanding of personal finance before diving into such a precarious field of work, life in NYC with basically no budget and so much more.
