Episode Summary

You’ve probably heard of the Mediterranean diet, but how about Mediterranean skincare?

Curù Skin is a gentle and effective after sun care brand inspired by founder Melodie Padula’s struggle with acne and travels to Sicily, where her family is from. Born and raised in Toronto, Melodie spent summers visiting family in Italy where she absorbed their rich traditions and way of life.

Her lifelong struggle with acne was uncomfortable and frustrating. With a strong interest in science and natural wellness, Melodie became determined about conjuring up an antidote to her skin troubles while she learned about plant-based ingredients that have been used in southern Italy for centuries.

After adopting what she learned from her family’s lifestyle and traditional Sicilian ingredients, she discovered a powerful connection between the Mediterranean way of life and skin health. And voilà, Curù Skin was born!

Throughout today’s episode we discuss Melodie’s journey to creating Curù, working multiple jobs to fund a passion project, bootstrapping a small biz, sourcing ingredients and working with people from across the globe, Nonnas, and so much more.
