“I think we really need to pay attention to the messages we’re sending young women and young girls about their future and what we expect of them.” - Jessica Kizovski

In my conversation with Jessica Kizovski, founder, brand manager, and former lead product formulator at Veriphy Skincare, those words struck me. $HMONEY’s mission supports reframing and improving the messaging sent to women about communicating their personal finance worries and curiosities, and for too long, the shame and stigma surrounding money as a taboo topic has prohibited them from steps forward in the right direction.

Where am I going with this?… Well, Jessica resembles the type of leader we need to make positive change for women in the world, and her goal of revealing the different faces of STEM while showing young women the limitlessness of their job prospects is truly inspiring.

After learning more about the representation of women in STEM from my first guest on $HMONEY Radio, @themathguru (EP. 2), I wanted to speak with Jessica about her brand’s unique mission in the beauty industry: to change how underrepresented and under appreciated women in STEM truly are.

Before launching her career as a #STEMinist, Jessica worked at Sephora as a makeup artist while studying science so that she could eventually bridge her passions for beauty and theory, leading her to delve into cosmetic chemistry.

According to Jessica, STEM is a major driver of the world economy. It’s where innovation, creativity, research and development come together to provide insightful and impactful information that leads to the betterment of society.

Thankfully, as STEM continues to become more of an important force in our day-to-day lives, Jessica and the team at Veriphy exist to reveal the reasons why we see less women pursue, and more women leave STEM careers.

In today’s episode on $HMONEY Radio, Jessica and I go over all of that and more; exciting product launches, industry stereotypes, gender biases, organizational diversity, and even the fact that Veriphy might be the only beauty brand with a scholarship for young women entering STEM-related programs at university.

Cool, right? I think so too.
